The medical center’s boiler plant was in need of major renovations to increase efficiency and to significantly reduce operating costs.
Opportunity
BG installed two quick response steam boilers that provided full‐capacity steam from a cold stand‐by in a matter of minutes. This immediately saw savings as the previous system was oversized and required five and a half full‐time employees to operate.
Solution
Each boiler was equipped with packaged economizers with secondary fuel oil firing capabilities that optimized the process and allowed for automatic operation.
Results
St. Vincent saw an immediate increase in plant efficiency and was able to relocate their human resources that were previously needed to operate that plant. BG maintained the required N+1 redundancy, and provided own service team to perform all preventive maintenance and repair requirements.
