Opportunity
Brewer-Garrett used House Bill 264 Energy Conservation to help Euclid City Schools reduce energy use in several of their buildings. This project was designed to replace aging mechanical and lighting systems, while updating water-consuming devices.
Solution
We leveraged our experience in energy conservation measures to determine the areas where Euclid City Schools could most improve.
Upgraded water chillers and boilers
At Central Middle School, the two existing 2560 MBH hot water boilers were replaced with more efficient models. We made additional energy saving modifications to the mechanical rooms, such as installing a 300-ton Helical Rotary Chiller.
For Memorial Elementary School, Brewer-Garrett removed the existing steam boilers and installed two new 1250 MBH energy efficient boilers.
Water conservation
Water conservation was a main focus for Central Middle School and Euclid High School, so existing standard flow valves and fixtures were replaced and upgraded to low-flow china and valves. We also installed aerators in sinks.
Results
This project was designed to replace aging mechanical and lighting systems, as well as update water consuming devices.
